James Blackett

Hip, knee and hand surgeon.
MBChB, FRACS.

I am a New Zealand trained Orthopaedic surgeon with an interest in hip and knee arthroplasty and hand conditions.

I graduated from Otago with my medical degree in 2006 and became a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2016. I trained all over New Zealand including Hawkes Bay, Christchurch, Invercargill, Whangarei and Wellington. I spent one year in London, Ontario, Canada completing a fellowship at Western University and returned to Hawkes Bay in 2018.

As a New Zealand trained Orthopaedic surgeon I am comfortable assessing and treating almost all orthopaedic conditions involving most parts of the musculoskeletal system.

I work as a Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon at Hawkes Bay DHB and my private practice (both consulting and operating) is based at Royston hospital.
